John,
I often
tell people that my sister really left behind two legacies: The laughter
and joy she brought to millions through her comedy and Gildas
Club!
When Gilda could not find the social and emotional support she had
found so helpful, she used to bring others living with cancer into
her own home for informal group sessions. She felt there
should be a place where people could lean on each other, share their
feelings, cheer each other up or just cry together.
No one should have to face cancer alone,
Gilda often said.
Gildas Club has grown out of that wish.
No matter what your background or economic situation, all of
the trivial differences fade away at Gildas Club.
There, people take control of their lives and make the best
of living with cancer, no matter the outcome.
I
know Gildas Club has helped many, many people.
I cant tell you how often Ive been told, I
dont know what I would do without this place.
I
hope youre willing to support Gildas Club.
There are many good organizations conducting cancer research,
and they are worthy of help as well.
But while people with cancer spend a limited amount of time
in treatment
they spend a lot of time living with
cancerand thats where Gildas Club comes in.
Because
cancer affects almost everyone at some point, Gildas Club
is for everyone in your hometownyour neighbor, your uncle,
a close friend or parent.
Because everything at Gildas Club is free, your support
is critical to making sure people you care about wont have
to face cancer aloneand thats a wonderful gift.
Thanks for helping make possible this unique support community
for all who need it.
Sincerely,

Michael Radner
