Web
Site Usability Study
Why is a Usability Study Needed?
If customers dont understand how to use your site, they will leave. Every change you
make toward making your site easier to use will make visitors that much more likely to
stay, radically improving conversion rates, and in turn, profitability. What would
doubling conversions rates be worth to you? In a world of information overload
and millions of Web sites, your homepage must grab the attention of visitors, tell them
where they are, and let them know where they can go. Does your site pass the test?
The Usability Study Process
Intralytics will provide your company or organization with a complete usability project.
We will plan the survey, run the interviews, analyze the survey results and turn them into
redesign recommendations.
The project will test the ability of five prospective users to complete basic tasks
on your Web site. The tests will be conducted in person, in your office with the
assistance of a video camera with audio. A written record of the survey will also be
included. The individuals who are interviewed will be paid a nominal fee to complete no
more than five tasks within an hour or less. Although each survey will be customized for a
particular Web site, a survey might include:
- Once at the site, describing
how they understand the purpose of the site.
- Placing an order.
- Finding an article in the
site. We will also ask questions about how users react to the design (colors and
pictures), architecture (navigation), writing, and how the Web site compares to its
competition.
Surveys will be followed up
with a report outlining the findings, approximately twenty minutes of video highlights and
recommendations on how to eliminate any problems which are discovered. |
